It does not matter if you work inside a hospital, are a manager at a Department of Health or a health consumer, how a health service works and integrates with the rest of the system can be difficult to grasp. Indeed, easier today, I had a conversation with a Senior Nurse Manager of more than 30 years experience did not know what happened in the Department of Health. I would guarantee there are people who work in Health Departments who have only a theoretical understanding of how health services are delivered to the client.
This is not a good thing, nor a bad thing. Each area works toward its objectives that are a part of the bigger health cog. This fortnightly podcast series discusses a range of health services and explores what they do, how they work and how it integrates into the bigger healthcare community. It is not a clinically focused podcast (although clinical care will be discussed in some episodes of course). And I have tried to ensure the conversational approach is involving for you, the listener. It is with you in mind that I have produced this series. Whether you are a health care user, health care provider, policy manager or a volunteer first aider, this podcast is designed to challenge and inform.
And be both interesting and entertaining. Oh, and about 20 minutes in length
I look forward to reading your comments, whether it be in regard to a particular podcast episode, or with any feedback. Indeed, I am looking forward to having a listener feedback episode at some stage.
Hang in there. Episode one is coming soon. (If you follow me on Twitter, you'll hear about the first episode that way, too!
